A bit more about me

Hi, I’m Zac.

Firstly, thanks for taking the time to have a look around my website. If you’ve made it this far, there’s a good chance you’re trying to find the right photographer for one of the biggest days of your life. That’s a huge decision, and I genuinely appreciate you considering me.

I’m based in Kent and have been behind a camera for well over ten years now. During that time I’ve photographed just about everything you can imagine. Theatre productions, commercial campaigns, restaurants, musicians, businesses, products, portraits, events, dogs (which I absolutely love photographing), and of course, weddings. Every job has taught me something different, but weddings have always been the one I look forward to the most.

I think that’s because no two weddings are ever the same. Every couple has their own story, every family has their own traditions and every celebration has its own personality. It’s one of the only jobs where I get to witness so many genuine moments between people, and then preserve them forever. That never gets old.

Over the years I’ve learnt that the best photographs rarely happen because someone is told to smile. They happen naturally. A look across the room. A hug that lasts a little longer than expected. Your grandparents laughing together. Your best mate trying to hold it together during the speeches. They’re the moments that mean the most years later, and they’re the ones I’m always looking for.

My approach is pretty simple. I like to keep things relaxed. I’m not there to turn your wedding into a photoshoot or spend hours dragging you away from your guests. Most of the day I’ll blend into the background, quietly documenting everything as it unfolds. Then, when it’s time for your couple portraits or family photographs, I’ll give you just enough direction to help you feel comfortable without making anything feel forced.

One thing I hear all the time is, “We’re really awkward in front of the camera.” Honestly, almost every couple says exactly the same thing. The good news is you don’t need to know how to pose or what to do with your hands. That’s my job. My aim is to make the whole experience feel relaxed enough that after five minutes, you’ve forgotten the camera is even there.

A lot of people think wedding photography starts when I arrive with my cameras on the morning of the wedding. In reality, it starts long before that. If I’m photographing a venue for the first time, I’ll usually visit beforehand around the same time your ceremony is due to take place. It helps me understand how the light falls throughout the venue, find the best locations for portraits and make sure I’m fully prepared before the day arrives. We’ll also have a chat beforehand to go through your plans, discuss timings for group photographs and make sure everything works alongside your day rather than taking it over.

Outside of weddings you’ll usually find me walking my Labrador, Coopa playing live acoustic music somewhere around Kent or working on one of my other photography projects. I genuinely love photography, whether it’s a wedding, a theatre production or a commercial shoot. I think photographing so many different subjects keeps me creative and constantly challenges me to see things differently. Every experience comes back with me to the next wedding I photograph.

At the end of the day, you’re not just choosing someone to take photographs. You’re choosing someone who’s going to be with you for most of your wedding day. Someone who’s there during the nervous excitement before the ceremony, the laughter during the speeches and the madness on the dance floor. I don’t ever want to feel like “the photographer”. I want to feel like another friendly face who’s there to help the day run smoothly while quietly capturing it all as it happens.

If you’re looking for a relaxed Kent wedding photographer who’ll document your day naturally, keep things enjoyable and leave you with photographs that still make you smile years from now, I’d love to hear all about your plans.
