Wedding Photography FAQs

Planning a wedding naturally comes with plenty of questions. Whether you’re wondering how many photographs you’ll receive, what happens if it rains, or what it’s actually like working with a documentary wedding photographer in Kent, you’ll hopefully find the answers below. If there’s anything you can’t find, I’d always be happy to have a chat.

I’m a Kent wedding photographer specialising in relaxed, documentary-style wedding photography. Rather than constantly directing or posing you, I focus on capturing genuine moments as they naturally unfold. During portraits I’ll gently guide you so everything feels relaxed and natural, allowing you to enjoy your wedding while I quietly tell the story of your day.

Most couples book between 12 and 18 months before their wedding, particularly for Saturdays during peak season. If you’ve found your venue and love my work, I’d recommend securing your date as soon as possible.

Get in touch through my contact page and we’ll arrange a relaxed chat, either over Zoom or in person. Once you’re happy to go ahead, a booking fee secures your date.

Wedding photography involves far more than simply turning up with a camera. Before your wedding there’s planning, consultations, timeline advice, venue research, equipment preparation, backups, insurance and travel. After your day comes many hours of carefully selecting and individually editing hundreds of photographs. You’re investing in experience, preparation and peace of mind, ensuring one of the most important days of your life is documented beautifully.

Absolutely. Although I’m based in Kent, I photograph weddings throughout the South East and across the UK.

Yes. We’ll arrange a relaxed meeting or video call to discuss your plans, timeline and any questions you have.

While I’m not a wedding planner, I will absolutely help with the parts of the timeline that affect your photography. Before your wedding, we’ll discuss the best time for your family group photographs, taking into account your venue, ceremony time, lighting and the flow of the day. My aim is to make sure everything runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible, so you can spend less time organising photos and more time enjoying your wedding.

Almost every couple says this. I’ll gently guide you where needed so your photographs feel natural rather than posed. The best images come from genuine moments, not perfect poses.

Yes, for family group photographs. I will send through a form to fill out with specific groupings, and I’ll arrange the groupings so people are kept waiting around as little as possible. For the rest of the day, I recommend trusting my documentary approach so I can capture genuine moments naturally.

Most couples receive between 500 and 700 professionally edited, high-resolution images.

Rain rarely stops great photographs. We’ll adapt, use beautiful indoor spaces or embrace the weather if you’re happy to. Some of my favourite wedding photographs have been taken in the rain.

Yes. A second photographer can be added for £200, providing even more coverage throughout your day.

If I haven’t photographed at your venue before, I like to visit it beforehand, usually around the same time your ceremony will be taking place. This allows me to assess the natural light, explore the grounds, identify beautiful portrait locations and plan for any potential challenges before your wedding day arrives. It means I can arrive fully prepared, so everything runs smoothly and you can simply enjoy your day without worrying about a thing.

Yes, where availability allows, additional coverage can usually be arranged.

Please do. As a dog photographer as well as a wedding photographer, I love including four-legged family members in your celebrations.
